IMBA services
Newsletter
Need to break out the ranking by content. Additional comments all contained very positive feedback:
· Yes, definitely, especially in the first year or so after having the twins
· yes, I love to get the newsletter and find that it has a great balance of all of the above - really good to hear about ongoing research re multiples development etc as well as to get practical advice from parents of multiples- the photos are great also!!
· find the articles on how others coped and their tips on medical and practical things very useful along with of course discount section. due to having another child it is hard to get to social events so i would regard this as least important at the moment
· Yes it is nice to hear from other multiple parents. Would be good if could have reviews of good days out - ireland wide
· I enjoy the real life experience section, feels less lonely having multiples
· Buy and sell page?
· I enjoy the newsletter and find it helpfull and a source of comfort.
· I love reading the real life stories of parents of multiples, they always make me laugh and make me realise I'm not the only one dealing with multiple toddlers.
· i love the stories and tips for dealing with multiples and all the pictures.
· he newsletter always reminds me of just how lucky we are and also that there are other parents going through the same tough/exciting times with their multiples
· very very helpful. especially tips and articles written by parents or interviews with multiples.
· If you published all this on the website I could just read the stuff that interests me. You could monitor which pages were actually visited. I can't remember the last time I read a newsletter.
Phone Support
Only 11 members have ever used phone support with a total of 14 respondents ever using it. 188 respondents answered this question. Seems to be lack of awareness of service from the comments included by just a few people.
IMBA Website
153 respondents said that they have used the IMBA website; 99 of there are IMBA members. Feedback showed that people regularly check the site but also
· Say use of other forums is more valuable (suggest we set up a forum page and explain why we don’t have our own forum and direct to Magic Mum, Rollercoaster, TAMBA forums)
· To check discount page
· Check for entitlements
· Check club and information evenings
Events
Only 22.3%(42) said that they had attended an IMBA event – 31 are currently members. The clubs and the Christmas parties were most commented on. 100 said that they would be interested in attending the IMBA conference and a few people asking for the material to be made available on the site if they could not attend.
Information Evening
50 respondents have attended the information evening 39 of these are current members. Some great comments from people who attended.
Multiple Clubs
69 respondents have attended the clubs 50 are IMBA members. Lots of great comments for all clubs:
· I'm member of the Fingal club. Myself & my girls life has been improved by meeting and making new friends in our club. Lisa is a great co-ordinator and takes on everybodys needs and suggestions. She is full of great ideas for all our kids. We'd be lost without her.
· Mullingar, Kids & Co. Have a great time there with the kids.Very safe and relaxed. Looking forward to the summer when we may meet up in a park or have a picnic or something nice for the kids.
· I attend the tallaght group and love going each month. Olivia is lovely and friendly and is great to organise it. She is also generous with her time and advice. the group is a perfect size and there is always a lovely atmosphere. Its great to chat to the others and get great tips and advice. Also its incredible how fast all the little one are growing and sometimes life it so busy you just dont see your own growing up but when others point out the difference each month - it give you space to see this through fresh eyes.
· South Co Dublin run by Siobhan. She does a fantastic job, great club. Rathfarnham As the age profile of the club ages we need to start looking at getting activities for the older kids e.g. money for arts & crafts, etc. I think a large soft mat (like a mat for gymnastics) should be in every club so that the babies can be left on it safely and parents can relax.
Discount Scheme
82 respondents have used the discount scheme with Clarks the most used based on the comments.
Communications Method
Our members preferred communications method was email 61.7% and newsletter 23%.
Offer to assist
Someone will need to go through these responses and follow up.
Some great comments included in the survey responses:
· would love to show my support but finding the time is proving difficult - would like to say thanks to the other parents who make all this possible - thank you!
· Would love to help but maybe when the girls are a little older - they're 8 weeks old now so times are tough and sleep a luxury! But smiles from Sinéad and Laura keep us going!
· I would love to but the babies are too small yet, maybe in the next 2 years. Just want to say I think the IMBA is a great support. Thank you :-)
· thanks to all the volunteers who give of their time-you are doing a great job - the conference sounds fantastic-looking forward to it
Suggestions received from survey for improvements:
1. As previously stated, I feel a forum would be very useful for mothers of twins.
2. thanks to all the volunteers who give of their time-you are doing a great job - the conference sounds fantastic-looking forward to it
3. I didn't receive any information on IMBA in my maternity hospital but knew about it from my friend with twins. Have met a lot of parents with twins or expecting twins who didn't know anything about IMBA. Just wondering if IMBA could be promoted in hospitals, ie leaflets given to expectant parents and posters on notice boards of scanning rooms?? Just a suggestion.
4. Maybe pop your phone number onto the membership cards for ease of access.
5. Financial advise on how to deal with multiples, going back to work etc.
6. Might be a good idea to have someone or application forms in maternity hospitals so people can join then before they get too busy minding the babies!
7. Improvements in your website as I looked on it when I was pregnant and couldn't find anything useful for people expectant multiples such as like rollercoaster or magicmum a forum for pregnant women to find out form experienced mums about having twins or more there seems little information on the website for someone who is expecting
8. You're doing a great job, keep it up!
10. You are doing a brilliant job providing a lot of incidental as well as direct support. The website is great and we LOVE to get the newsletter! Even though I have never managed to organise myself and remember to go to a club meeting!! Love the discount card.
11. As already mentioned, would be interested in attending events closer to Co Monaghan.
12. Maybe more pregnancy related info of multiples
13. it is great to know you are there if and when needed.
14. IMBA a fantastic service-well done to all involved!
15. I find the association is brilliant, maybe begin a multiple online shop, UK and US websites have them would prefer to purchase from IMBA
16. Maybe more of an active online forum
17. I don't know if this is something that is what you are trying to do or not but i would have loved a little booklet or something like a web-page to suggest little hints while i was pregnant giving me tips on what to by or to find out before i had the twins. ex. an extra kettle, a changing unit, make sure i get the right bottles, i know a lot of this is somewhat practical knowledge but i was totally clueless and to be told in the hospital where i could get info about twins would have been useful rather than spending a good while browsing the net trying to find an Irish website about information and not selling goods. Thanks.
